What this number is — and is not
It is arithmetic on your own figures. Fixed costs divided by the margin on each unit, rounded up to a whole unit. Nothing is estimated or modelled — if your inputs are right, the number is right.
Units are always rounded up: you cannot sell 66.7 units, and rounding down would tell you that you break even at a volume where you are still losing money.
It does not forecast demand. It tells you the volume you need, not the volume you will get — those are different questions, and this tool only answers the first.
